Hardwood flooring is significantly higher to buy and to install as compared to laminate flooring. But hardwood floor is made up of wood from harvested trees, and the price depends on the type of the wood chosen. The composite wood used for laminate flooring is cheaper and its installation is also 50% less than hardwood floor installation.

Durability

Hardwood flooring is beautiful and can add value to your home depending on the type of the wood used. On the other hand even though laminate flooring is more durable but it is not prominently appealing. Hardwood flooring is receptive to scratches and an get damaged from extreme moisture and will show wear. While, laminate flooring is easier to clean, durable and can resist scratches.

Repair:

Hardwood can be repaired by sanding defect and revamped. This gives it the dominance over laminate, in that it will last for years. Laminate flooring doesn’t repair easily.

Both hardwood and laminate flooring have their merits and demerits. Hardwood comes with a higher price tag, but they are easier to repair and last longer than laminate. Laminate flooring merits and demerits include that it doesn’t fade or scratch as easily as hardwood, but repairs may involve redoing the whole floor.
